Why choose .co for a company or startup
The ending has two letters, and those letters can suggest company. If the name you want is available on .co but already held on .com, it gives you another address to consider without changing the name before the dot.
A .co can be used as a company or product address. Try the whole address aloud, including the ending, and ask someone who has not seen it to type it back. The .co vs .com guide covers spelling and email confusion in more detail.
Google includes .co among country-code endings it treats as generic for geographic targeting in its published guidance, checked on 13 October 2026. That is search treatment, separate from official registry status. It is not a promise of better rankings.
Check existing company and trade mark uses with the name check guide. An available domain alone does not settle whether the name fits your business.
Companies using .co
- Hugging Face uses huggingface.co for its platform for machine-learning models, datasets and applications.
- Hinge uses hinge.co for the public website of its dating app.
- VSCO uses vsco.co for its photography tools, community and membership plans.
These are working .co websites, checked on 13 October 2026.
What .co actually is
.co is a country-code ending. IANA’s official record identifies Colombia’s Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies, MinTIC, as its manager.
In a business name, the letters can also suggest company. That is a branding interpretation. The address ends at .co; adding an m takes a visitor to a different domain. Neither ending includes control of the other one.
Who runs .co today
MinTIC oversees .co policy and administration. The registry’s current website says CentralNic has handled day-to-day operation since 3 October 2025. These operator details were checked on 13 October 2026.
Your registrar manages the domain account and renewal arrangements. If you buy an already-owned name, the seller and marketplace handle the sale before the domain is delivered. Onomora is the owner’s storefront, rather than the .co registry or a registration service.
Who can hold a .co domain
.co registration is open worldwide. The registry’s eligibility guidance, checked on 13 October 2026, says a local address is not required. This concerns an ordinary name directly under .co, such as Tiaki.co.
Worldwide eligibility does not make every name available. A name may already have a holder, and the registry’s rules still apply. Check the exact spelling and the name’s current status before paying.
Registration, renewal and resale prices
A registration price covers a name available through a registrar. Some available names carry registry-premium pricing. The .co registry explains that those retail prices vary, so the exact quote comes from the registrar.
An already-owned domain is a different purchase. Its holder may set a Buy Now price or invite offers. That payment is separate from the cost of keeping the registration renewed. Check the renewal quote for the exact name, the expiry date and any fees in the sale checkout.
A first-year offer tells you little about the total cost of holding the domain. Compare the later renewal price and the services actually included. The premium-domain buying guide explains delivery and payment checks.
The .co name in the Onomora collection
Tiaki.co is the collection’s .co domain. Its page shows the current purchase route for that exact address. Other company-name options are in the brandable collection.
Common questions
Is .co short for company?
People can read the letters that way when naming a business. Officially, .co is Colombia’s country-code domain. The company reading does not change its registry status.
Do I need a Colombian address to register .co?
The .co registry’s eligibility page says registration is open worldwide without a local-address requirement. Availability and registry rules still apply to the particular name.
Does buying .co include the matching .com?
The two addresses are separate registrations. A purchase of Tiaki.co, for example, covers that exact domain. The matching .com stays with its own holder; its availability has to be checked separately.
Are all premium .co prices the same?
No. The registry’s premium-price guidance says retailer prices vary. Buying an already-owned name is also a separate transaction from registering a registry-premium name.
